Community of Care
This space is dedicated to people and organisations working in Hampshire & it's edges.
Here are some of the people and places we are glad to know, and glad to point you towards. They are working quietly and steadily in many different ways — supporting dying people and their families, holding grief, shaping meaningful funerals and ceremonies, making coffins, tending burial grounds, and helping families find practical and affordable options. You will find death doulas and grief practitioners, ceremonialists and celebrants offering handmade funerals, coffin makers, natural burial grounds, supportive funeral directors, and organisations working to reduce funeral poverty and support families in financial difficulty. This is not a complete list, and it is not a ranking. It is simply a gathering of local resources we trust and are glad to share.

People who offer practical, emotional, and sometimes spiritual support before, during, and after death — helping families as they navigate unfamiliar ground.

People who work alongside families to shape meaningful funerals that reflect the life of the person who has died and honour the people who loved them.

Practitioners, groups, and community spaces offering companionship and guidance in grief. Places where sorrow can be shared and witnessed, rather than carried alone.

Funeral directors who are open to conversation, flexibility, and family involvement, including those who support home vigils, simple funerals, and more personal ways of caring for the dead.

People who create handmade coffins and burial shrouds, often using natural materials and traditional craft.

Burial places managed for ecological benefit and biodiversity — often set within woodland, meadow, or conservation land.

Organisations and initiatives working to reduce funeral poverty and support families facing financial difficulty — offering practical help, guidance, and advocacy.

Groups and organisations working to increase understanding and community involvement around dying, death, and grief.

Places and organisations offering care and comfort for the dying, and for those alongside them.
If you know of someone doing good work in this field of Death & Dying, we are always glad to hear about them.
This list will continue to grow as relationships deepen and new resources emerge.
